March 16, 2024 - Method: Pop and pour; fridge temp; Grassl Mineralite

    Look: med- straw

Nose: petrol, oyster liquor, ground up oyster shells, pea shoots, gooseberry; explosive nose

Palate: gooseberry, oyster shells, salt; long finish oyster shells, salt, parsley, white pepper; dry; full round body; high acidity; low- tannin

Overall thoughts: Explosive nose with so much minerality previews the saline and highly acidic palate. Wonderful full, round body is a nice counterpoint (in a way) to the high acidity. A touch of phenolics adds nice textural complexity. Really expressive and rich, but rich in mineral fashion. Very impressed. Tempted to give it 94 points, but maybe it'll get there with some more age. Really great wine.

It will probably open up, and maybe get fruitier, but it's great right out of the gate.

September 4, 2022 - SB from Happy Canyon, made in a Bordeaux Blanc style.

Tropical fruit dominates - pineapple, mango and guava. Some naval orange and grapefruit. The oak shows mostly on the nose and the middle of the palate. It manifests in marshmallow and rubber notes. Finally, there's a hint of fresh cut grass as well as something vegetal - call it peas, or pea soup if you will.

More than anything; this is my favorite style of SB and I am glad the producer chose this style.

Medium bodied with great acid. Drink now or age it for 2-3 years.
