November 21, 2023 - Davy's Strange Magnum Attractor (Hawksmoor Guildhall): Served from magnum, by the winemaker. Now we start to ascend into the stratosphere. Fully ready to go, although I imagine there is more in the tank. Transcendent as only grand burgundy can really be. Of all the wines of the evening, the one that suffered from the vibrancy and conviviality of the gathering - I would happily have taken a glass to a room on my own and spent hours in contemplation.

November 20, 2023 - This was the superior of the two vintages on the night, the other being 2001. Haunting, sublime bouquet that is so multi-faceted it seems completely trite to list a load of fruits, spices and other "real-world" elements to form a cohesive whole. There is a real sense of roundedness here, completeness. Texturally, the 2001 was velvety but this was all silk. Deeply, intimately caressing. A hug from a loved one is an outer caress - this is an inner caress. It hugs you from the inside. A profound, poetic wine. Unforgettable.

November 19, 2023 - Ye Paulee (Hao Noodle): Good weight with lots of substance packed. Vintage quality evident, just a touch too young, very detailed. 93-94+

June 7, 2023 - Sweet and meaty. Does that mean sweaty?

February 17, 2023 - Nice but not over expressive nose with just a touch of spice and iron. Wonderful fresh red fruit, stems and spice on the palate. Great sweetness. Needed an hour to get rolling.

January 2, 2023 - Wonderfully expressive bottle in what I find is a great vintage for Dujac. Light and ethereal candied red fruit, herbs, and spice. Beautifully fragranced. It was served after a magical 82 Pichon Lalande, and in that regard was not as complete/full, but it’s a great expression of pinot (95-96). For current consumption of 02s I’d rate Roche first, followed by CSD, this, and then the slower developing BM

December 15, 2021 - One of my absolute favorite vintages for Burgundy, and an especially great one for the Domaine. This 02 Echezeaux stuns with its intoxicating bouquet of sweet red fruit, Asian spice, stems and violets. It’s precise and focused and there is an incredible purity of fruit to the vintage along with seamlessly balanced acidity. Fantastic now, but destined for a long life. Decanted.

November 13, 2021 - Good but not great. Not a particularly expressive bottle, on either the nose or palate.

March 19, 2021 - A powerful Echezeaux that has a noticable earthy and herbal undertone. Decent on its own but the 02 Charmes shows more purity and precision.
