January 18, 2022 - Still going strong. Same broken cork, tight and a bit dry, but came out in 2 pieces, 3/5 then 2/5. Meaty and bloody nose with some iodine and a touch of dark soy. 13.8% and it shows nicely without heat or overripe flavors. Dark plum and blackberry flavors, just enough acid to balance the fruit and remaining tannins. Overall, nice harmony. Went well with bacon chipotle Beyond Meat burgers we needed to cull from the freezer, though we prefer Impossible.

November 1, 2019 - Still very alive- nose is intensely savory with dark, meaty, ironlike tones, sanguine, black olives, with a violet fruit note that probably once smelled like fresh blackberries. There's a tiny dose of sweetness, something like syrupy pancakes, although it's very faint. Palate is pretty tannic and acidic for a 13 year-old syrah, with echoes of blueberry and cloves, very black and minty. Probably was a little fresher 5 years ago, but still intriguing- broken cork and all.

May 13, 2017 - Beautiful. Delicate and fruity at first, then giving way to warming spice notes as it oxygenated.

January 30, 2016 - Fantastic. Drink the rest soon. Herbaceous, with fruit diminished, but still amazing with lamb.

November 15, 2015 - Consumed over 3 days. My last bottle had hints of being in decline, this one was definitely on the way out. Dusty, brambly, astringent. Still a reasonable wine to drink on a weekday, but this should have been consumed sooner. My fault. Well, no, I expect a decent syrah to last 10 years, and that didn't happen here.
