November 1, 2009 - Nose had the sophistcated smoothness of a barbera but on the palate it wasn't as rich as the nose suggested. There was some tannic sense but not a lot. I think this was a bit (but only a bit) too old and I'm glad we drank this now.
It was our last bottle and now we'll have to do without barbera (sigh!) since the local liquour authority doesn't sell it (likely because sales are low). So, while barbera isn't one of the worlds great grapes (yielding a great wine), it's really interesting and now has become desired because of its unavailabilty. I'm off to Denver this week: maybe I'll find some barbera there... -

July 14, 2009 - Rather "thin" tasting but still with the sense of a Babera d' Asti. Though 8yr old there are still some tannins that might mellow yet.
