November 15, 2019 - Two hours of decant time for this one, the nose is hot and filled with dark fruit, black licorice and black olives. The palate is extracted and very big bodied and matches the nose. Tannins are still on the heavy side despite 14 years of aging, this can go for several years without a doubt.

December 8, 2018 - As complex as a bottle three or four years ago, but the secondary flavors have receded a bit, leaving a more straightforward wine. Less interesting than before, but decidedly more tasty. Almost - dare I say it - a fruitbomb, albeit a fruitbomb with formidable structure and an impressive finish. Probably has another ten years or so left in it, and God only only knows what it might eventually evolve into.

August 9, 2015 - The single most complex wine I have ever tasted. Every sip and every sniff revealed something new: minerals, black fruit, camphor, garrigue, pepper, you name it. Rich, with a nice finish, but not too heavy. Probably has not yet reached its peak.

July 2, 2015 - Perfect cork and storage...Delicious, deep dark color perfectly mature...Chocolate, chewy tannins, liquorish, chewing tobacco, menthol, chalk, fresh prune and chewy dried cherries.

December 27, 2013 - Opened and decanted at Charlie Palmer's. Like the first bottle I kept noticing a bit of what seemed to be TCA. No one else noticed it so it may just be something in the 05 Orion. Looking past the perceived TCA thing it was a classic big Orion. Red fruited nose mixed with a bit of hay. Fairly clean palate. Interesting wine as always. Sad that the pricing has jumped so much.
