November 19, 2022 - blind, opened two weeks before
THis wine can't hide his origin. I guessed 97 or 99. Balanced, not too sweet. Fresh from the acidity side. Some black tea notes. 93

May 10, 2020 - Another excellent bottle. Shows a bit more mature/less primary than my last with some smoky, creamy, and honeyed notes around the bright fruit and minerality, and this seems to be in a nice place. Like this a lot, though I found myself slightly preferring the focus and energy in the '95 GH Spätlese I had last week - this seems a touch broader and richer, but without the same cut and energy in the Spät.

April 13, 2019 - My birthday celebration, 2019 edition: Same bottle as Salil. Definitely quite primary still but there is a lot of promise in this wine. Well balanced and entirely quaffable. I wish I could have followed this through the night but it just didn't last.

April 13, 2019 - Very primary, still showing a bit of that spritz on the palate and I wonder if more air might have helped. The Prüm sulfur isn't apparent, but the fruit still feels rather tightly coiled and gives the impression there's a lot in reserve. There's some apparent maturing smokiness along with the floral and mineral notes, but right now this seems more about its potential than pleasure. I'll wait on my Auslesen some time longer, and open the Späts in the mean time.

October 7, 2018 - This was somewhat more evolved (particularly on the nose), than I expected, throwing some serious petrol and burnished tones. The palate is fresher, and really needs air to come alive; an hour or two made a big difference, and a day made an even bigger difference. All said, this gives pleasure but it was not profound and I have to wonder whether there are better examples out there.
