Community Tasting Notes 13

December 14, 2021 - Enjoyed with the tasting menu at Angler in SF. Excellent rendition of a California cab franc, absolutely in its prime. Everyone at the table raved about it.

February 23, 2018 - Over the hill. Color is nice and the tannins are great, just no fruit left. I waited to long on this bottle.

February 15, 2015 - Unexpectedly very good. Interesting nose of cedar, dill, blackberry, currant, smoke and loads of jalapeño. Silky smooth mouthfeel, with a very bright profile -- amzing for a 12 year old wine. Primary notes of raspberry and blackberry are interlaced with smoke, bittersweet chocolate and more jalapeño. Long finish. Lovely.

December 7, 2013 - Read previous reviews and agree with them all. One of the best cab Francs. Age has mellowed its flavor in a way that makes it smooth and pleasant . rolling it in my mouth brought out the fruit and depth. I recommend chewing it rather than swallowing. :)

October 5, 2013 - Had this at Flea St. Cafe for my birthday dinner. Background: Had a tasting at Keenan this summer, but they didn't have the cab franc open. Based on reputation and tasting attendants comments about the 2003 being rated higher by RP on a 10-yr revisit, we purchased two bottles. I wish I bought more.

This wine was solid. Well-knitted tannin and yet could still last for a couple of more years. I'm writing this a few days later, so vague memory on specifics - but overall the aroma, color, and taste all was well-balanced. Front/mid/back palate was in sync and harmonious. This wine was delicious, and renewed my fanaticism with cabernet franc.
