November 23, 2011 - Leathery and meaty nose, with some black fruit and alcohol undertones. Well integrated, with a mix of fruit, acid, tannin, and oak rolling over the palate. Good and easy to drink.

June 27, 2011 - This wine still has a great acid backbone with well balanced fruit. Very fresh still.

December 20, 2009 - Tasty wine for a $20 bottle. But I gave $27. It could probably use some time in the bottle so I'll wait a while before I try again. I felt it was not Bordeaux-ish as I was anticipating. Decent fruit and terrior on the nose and palate. Seems to have potential. Let's hope.

April 1, 2009 - this is an excellent bottle of wine, certain not to disappoint at the price point. It is big and bold but not massive or a fruit bomb. It has mineral, leather and dark fruit on the nose and in the glass, and is layered with many other well-balanced flavors and aromas -- quite complex.

I think many wine drinkers would advise cellaring for a while, but I found this just fine right now if opened at least 2-3 hours before consumption (and the taste on popping the bottle wasn't bad at all). It isn't completely integrated, and has enough tartness to stand up to some cellaring, but it is quite good now. It would change w/ some time (maybe 2-5 years), and might, to some palates, improve.

It was fun drinking this one over a few days as it evolved from a more leathery wine to more apparently tart and fruit forward. It stayed balanced at all stages of this evolution. I bought on sale in the mid 20 dollars range, and will buy more to drink over the next few years.

As for the score I'd like to go higher but it isn't a classic -- just an excellent, accessible bottle of wine well worth the price, a good one to shut up and drink!
