March 21, 2024 - Bottled in 1993. Much darker in profile than the 1957 alongside; more rancio and spice notes, with a thicker, caramel quality on the palate as well. The oak seems to stick out a touch here, but not overbearingly so, though it provides an inflection to the spice that I don't normally find in Madeira. Hard to say which of the two vintages I preferred though.

April 8, 2017 - My first visit to Bern's Steakhouse (Tampa): Off to the dessert room at Bern's. Another futile attempt at the menu so I deferred to the server who recommended this Madeira. Nutty, burnt caramel, some lacquer and charred oak. Creamy, ripe banana, orange oil, loads of sweet tangy goodness and espresso bean. The finish went on for days. Complimented my Macadamia nut ice cream so well that they should offer them as a package. Really fun experience.
