Community Tasting Notes 5

  • tsdv Does not like this wine: 79 points

March 17, 2024 - Intense, tannic, high acid. I don't mind those things as long as they are balanced with fruit and other components. This is not.

April 27, 2023 - tasted @Vancouver International Wine Festival 2023: Spicy wine, juicy style, quite long and deep, the fruit however seemed slightly oxidized with this bottle. - 90 points

November 26, 2022 - Very much acid driven. Seems a touch simple compared to the 2020 Wynns BL tasted alongside.

August 14, 2022 - By the glass. This bottle used to be considered the truly epitome of the Coonawarra cabernets, namely a lot of power and abundant ripe black fruit; intense and tannic but without offending; slightly acidic but absent from a true balance. Must integrated all elements but I don’t think it’ll age properly.

August 12, 2022 - Coonawarra Roadshow (Town Hall, Sydney): Very slightly sour smelling blackcurrant, smidge of eucalyptus, cedar and sweet spices in support on the nose. Juicy, fleshy, that sour note to the fruit is on the palate as well but doesn't detract, very slightly chalky tannins support the fruit. Simple, young, nice.
