January 6, 2024 - Recognizable as cabernet but lighter color and translucent, with simple aroma and not much fruit. Definitely well past its peak. Drink up or cook with it.

May 26, 2023 - Last tasted five years ago with similar notes. Drinking very well right now. Black cherries, chocolate, and a hint of floral in the nose. Black cherries, plums, and black currants with hints of licorice and chocolate in the flavor. Nice complexity, medium to full bodied, well balanced and a medium to long smooth finish.

May 24, 2022 - very dark red, opened 90 min before dinner(steak), nice nose of black berries, cedar, leather, dense black currant, black berry fruit, tobacco, cedar, leather all mixed in perfect balance with a long smooth finish. Overall in peak condition now with no real signs of being old. Purchased direct from winery upon release and has been resting comfortably at 55 deg.

June 14, 2018 - Similar notes as previous tastings. I disagree with community notes reflecting this being over the hill. Though we have not encountered bottle variation, maybe there is some, because I'd say this easily has 5-8 more years in the bottle, maybe more. Still plenty of fruit, nice complexity, and long finish.

February 24, 2018 - Flagship Cabernet Sauvignon Tasting at Tre Posti (Saint Helena): Less dead than the 1999 version of this wine, the 2001 exhibits similar notes of red and black currant, cedar, dirt, and leather. Some tobacco leaf seeped up through the core as well. In the end, this is still 5+ years over the hill. I'm not sure how others are actually getting any semblance of flavor out of these older wines from Clark-Claudon. An "old school" palate is one thing, but just plain "old" is another. Just cuz it's old doesn't make it an antique.
