December 12, 2015 - Dark brown in color, intense aromas of brown sugar intermixed with honey and grapefruit. More light body than expected. Sweet, but well balanced by a superb acidity. Long finish, very vibrant and pure.

March 9, 2015 - Ambrato, ai limiti del mogano. Naso che evoca la densità, con dattero, sciroppo, latte di fico, miele di castagno, idrocarburi, aceto balsamico. Bocca dolce, ma è incredibile la parte acida. Lunghissimo

January 28, 2014 - Brown Bag Wine Dinner at Two Chefs (TWO CHEFS, MIAMI, FL): The wine looks amber colored. The legs are slow. It smells like raisin, prune, petrol, stoniness and almond. The body is full. The wine has polished texture. The wine finishes long. The wine has high acidity. Mark's wine(Me).

October 5, 2012 - Dark brown color. Hi quality nose, with elegant notes of orange marmalade, prune jam, honey and a balsamic touch. In the glass it will show more aromas of dried fruits (figs, apricots, walnuts, roasted almonds and dried orange peel). Also cinnamon and dried mushrooms.
On the mouth very fresh inspire of the 220g of residual sugar, it ends long and balsamic with hints of dried prunes and orange peel.

August 25, 2012 - BBQ at Matt and Francesca’s (Vancouver, BC): No formal notes. This was very nice. Complex with sweet and gorgeous apricot and papaya notes with loads of acidity. Excellent.

March 24, 2012 - Honey, butterscotch, cloves, apricots, peaches, caramel, all in an intriguing mix. Almost (not not quite) syrup-like in viscosity. Almost (but not quite) heavy in the mouth. Great acidity, which carries the day.

April 2, 2011 - Dark honey color -- nose was sweet with clove, honey, and spice. Palate was sweet and assertive with decent acidity. Rich, thick, with an almost tannic quality, and lingering notes of black tea.

Interesting wine that I tentatively scored a 94, then slowly came down to the 89-91 range. Not sure what to think of this wine, mainly because I expect a wine of this caliber to excellent with food, and yet here I am stumped. Complex, layered, heavy, I think this wine probably satisfies the Tokay lover, but I am not sure if it works for the rest of us.

August 13, 2010 - There is a very strong apparent acidity component to this Aszu which is probably due to a lack of the regular weight and sweetens that you find in better vintages. This results in a rather austere personality (of course this is a relative term ) but i could not help but feel disappointed as other vintages seem to offer so much more in terms of balance and complexity. Sampled again after a few days and while the apricot and spice were more in line, I think that this will not turn to be a long term ager and may end up rather dry. At least based on this bottle.

April 12, 2009 - Apricot and bright apple flavors wash through your mouth with dark earth flavors and hints of tobacco. The integration is seamless, and a joy to experience in its own right. I was hoping for a longer finish, and perhaps with time that will evolve. Excellent complexity, and quality of flavor.
