September 17, 2023 - Amazing wine - opened and allowed to slow ox for 6 hours. The nose is dark fruit. The palate is lush with flavors of berry, cherry, plum, tobacco and just a hint of spice. The smooth finish just goes on and on.

July 25, 2023 - Lush and explosive flavors of dark plum and cherries mixed with chocolate and vanilla. Incredibly intense in its youthfulness and the acidity is just singing through the long and expressive aftertaste. There is plenty of oak and despite being a huge wine with so much flavors, the acidity still maintains a good balance in the wine making it very drinkable!

July 8, 2023 - Seabrook Beach Trip 2023; 7/8/2023-7/15/2023 (Seabrook Island, SC): Very young. Very bright. Chocolate and tobacco. Anise and white pepper? Plum. Açaí. Tannic. Beautiful now but 2028-2040+

June 6, 2023 - TOP SHELF WINE WEEKEND: Huge blackberry cobbler, camphor, brush, and booze. It has the hallmarks of the SQN Syrah flavor profile that I love, but like all things SQN, I recommend at least another 7+ years (more like 10) before it’s in a place where finesse and nuance can be appreciated. It’s a Darth Vader kind of experience at the moment, which isn’t a bad thing at all in my opinion. But as much as I am digging the vibe this is putting out, I look forward to revisiting it in 2030.

May 27, 2023 - Wild and Crazy Memorial Weekend - Saturday (Chris' Castle aka Melissa's Manor): Great on day 1....even better on day 2! This is a BIG wine! I prefer SQN with about a decade of age. Their wines are so big, there is virtually no chance they will not still be very fruity with 10 years of age! Unlike its older brother (2005 Grenache), this wine was only about the fruit! Of course the fruit was luscious and showed even better the following day. Lots of dark fruit, followed by layers of more dark fruit, followed by yet more dark fruit.....you get the picture! Yes, the fruit was luscious and delicious, but the fruit was going no where and it would just take some time to develop some complexity. Started at 94+ and ended up at 96 the following day....still quite a bit of room for improvement, and I would fully expect this to live up to its potential!
