January 20, 2024 - 2005 Outpost Petite Sirah, The Other, Howell Mountain. This.....was legit the best PS that I've had in a while (maybe tied with the 1998 La Jota)! Why is that you ask? Because while it's full of pure dark fruits, pepper, and spice, it is WONDERFULLY balanced by literally loads of acidity and is almost refreshing to drink. People always talk about PS never evolving or gaining complexity (which I can understand sometimes), but this wine absolutely has. It's a medium - mouthful of happiness and I'm very excited to see where my last bottle goes over the next 5 to 10 years, as I'm positive that there is more upside. Great stuff!

June 27, 2021 - Last bottle of 4. Still delicious, but fading. I've immensely enjoyed the arc of this wine since 2012.

June 7, 2020 - Good bottle of wine but not the outstanding bottle I was hoping for. PnP and drank with Barbecue ribs. Plenty of fruit but not much excitement here. I have moire for years to come so maybe it will improve.

January 7, 2020 - Pitch black in color. 15.1% ABV. Big nose of black fruits, leather, graphite and licorice. Full bodied with ample acidity and a touch of heat. Just a beast of a wine. Huge, plush and concentrated. Black cherry liqueur, coffee, cocoa and blackberries on the palate. The finish is long with copious tannins. This is a massive Petite Sirah that you can pick your spots with now, otherwise, it will drink well for another decade. Pretty good but I had hoped for more nuance at 15 years of age.

December 22, 2018 - Drank this with leftover chili. Very nice PS but lacking some of the concentrated fruit that I really like. I have quite a few more of these to follow in the years to come. Drink or hold.

May 25, 2017 - Decanted thru strainer for 20 min. and drank over next 2 hrs. Very smooth and rich, except for a little harsh spot mid-palette, but that opened up in another 10-15 min. Drinking very well now with a little decanting.

February 11, 2017 - This has evolved into something near stunning. Light tannins left, so there's room to grow even. Complex, weaving finish. Great stuff.

September 23, 2015 - Still a bit primary and tannic but this is a good PS IMHO. This should continue developing for at least 5 more years. Good stuff!

February 1, 2015 - Drinking really well right now. Tons of sediment, but a really tasty PS. Paired perfectly with a super bowl win!
