September 28, 2019 - Cedar and earth; blackberry and raspberry with sweet backdrop; complex and layered with length.

September 19, 2019 - Drunk at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse Admiralty Hong Kong - This wine is in a great place right now and I suspect it will remain so for quite some time. The cigar box descriptor is often used for Haut Brion and its particularly applicable here. Tannins are fully resolved and there is a very pleasant sweet fruit that you get from mature Bordeaux on the palate. It's not in the league of '82 Latour or Mouton but there is a satisfaction that you get from consuming this wine as I suspect this is its apogee.

August 2, 2019 - Another lost Friday afternoon gathering – 88 DRCs, 90 Bordeauxs, Raveneaus, Dauvissats and etc. (Black Salt, Washington DC): My contribution. The cork is soaked through the top. Fully mature nose displaying sweet red fruit with a hint of black, strawberry, plum, black cherry, crème de cassis, tobacco, ash, milky chocolate, leather and earth. Very soft and round palate with subtle red fruit, silky and warm, perfect amount of acidity, subtle mineral and a medium to long sweet red fruit driven finish with tobacco and ash at the end. This seems to be the most ready of the 82 FGs. FWIW, the last bottle from December was from the same batch but was in perfect shape.

August 2, 2019 - The 1982 Haut Brion is drinking well today. Matured profile of blackberries, dried blackberries, earthy gravel, tobacco, mild smoked game and black truffles. Medium bodied and drinking at sweet spot but just like Chateau Palmer 1982, the 82 Haut Brion is certainly disappointing in the context of a First Growth from 1982. (90/100)

July 20, 2019 - BBQ and Top Shelf Vino (Chez Moll): Gorgeous full and enthralling nose of mature plum and cherry, dried tobacco and herbs. The palate is nicely mature with still round and lush fruit that is laced with intense bell pepper and tobacco. Persistent. Stunning. Great now, but no signs of fading.

(Château Haut-Brion) Light medium brick red color with pale meniscus; mature, beckoning cassis, cedar and dried berry nose; lovely, elegant, mature but delicious, glimpses and echoes of lush tart berry, blackberry and cassis fruit; medium-plus finish 95+ pts.

(Chateau Haut Brion) Shows of the opulence of the vintage with it's ripe fruit profile. It was dense, concentrated with great refinement and waves of dense fruit on the palate. Easily the fruitiest wine of the night which was very interesting as the '02 was the most austere of the nigh with the least fruit. Well the '95 . . . but that is a special case.

(Haut-Brion) This was beautiful with great supple texture and a wonderful femininity. Loads of tar, weedy tobacco and delicate cassis fruit with almost fully resolved tannins and a very long finish. This is an '82 that is rarin' to go.
