June 11, 2019 - A perfect provenance bottle. Decanted three hours before dinner, but decided to quickly pour it back in the bottle. Exquisite. The nose is perfumed, the palate sensuous; all in all as good as this wine gets (which is quite good).

April 21, 2019 - Light nose with cedar and earth; complex and layered; elegant balanced blackberry and earth; long, long finish; tannins present and youthful.

April 4, 2019 - Very strong bottle. Sometimes a forgotten wine amongst the plethora of great '82s. Soft, complex and typical. Very much enjoyed this bottle.

March 6, 2019 - Haut Brion vs La Mission Haut Brion dinner with Bernard Burtschy (Taberna del Alabardero, Washington D.C.): This has reached the youthful peak. Very complex but not showing a lot of tertiary notes other than cedar. Incredibly silky, very fresh and perfectly balanced. For a few, WOTN, perhaps the best drinking at the moment. The best example.

December 31, 2018 - New years eve at my place with Joe, M, and Candy
    Decanted for 2 1/2 hrs
    A treat!!
    So balanced, smooth
The right amount of fruit with subtle secondary and tertiary aromas
Difficult to describe, wine is drinking beautifully now
Not sure it will improve but no rush

(Château Haut-Brion) Light medium brick red color with pale meniscus; mature, beckoning cassis, cedar and dried berry nose; lovely, elegant, mature but delicious, glimpses and echoes of lush tart berry, blackberry and cassis fruit; medium-plus finish 95+ pts.

(Chateau Haut Brion) Shows of the opulence of the vintage with it's ripe fruit profile. It was dense, concentrated with great refinement and waves of dense fruit on the palate. Easily the fruitiest wine of the night which was very interesting as the '02 was the most austere of the nigh with the least fruit. Well the '95 . . . but that is a special case.

(Haut-Brion) This was beautiful with great supple texture and a wonderful femininity. Loads of tar, weedy tobacco and delicate cassis fruit with almost fully resolved tannins and a very long finish. This is an '82 that is rarin' to go.
