November 5, 2015 - We had a serious adventure last night. We had read about and decided to visit a French “private kitchen” (Cafe F39) run by a Hong Kong Chinese couple who lived in France for 30 years and returned to their home village in the countryside. The third floor of their village house is dedicated to serving a small number (no more than 12) diners. Two days advanced booking and the Chef will prepare pretty much any French dish you want. Fine French food in the countryside of Hong Kong…does it get any better!?

Our first red of the evening. We let her air out the old, leather-bound library books for 2+ hours...really started sipping nicely at 3+ hours. A dark ruby-red with a brown rim that screams "sip me now...or someone else will". Smokey, over-ripe berries on the nose with all sorts of thoughts swirling around our head, i.e. old library books, wet forest, prunes, mushrooms, dirty socks...the list fades into old and recent memories. Sophisticated, elegant, and rich, a bit chubby, great balance, medium-body, smooth tannins and pretty much everything you might want from a Left Bank Bordeaux. A winner from A to Z...stopping off at L for luvly, W for wonderful and a few other letters!!!

July 15, 2015 - Last sip after 4+ weeks of a glass per week via Coravin!!! Life rarely gets better!!!

July 4, 2015 - Another glorious sip via Coravin. Very veggie like on the nose and palate...super sous bois! Texture-like finish. Almost done after 3+ weeks!

June 13, 2015 - Oh our ears and whiskers...we still think this wine has a lot of life in it! We intend to sip this bottle over the next few weeks using Coravin. The 100ml we had last night still had good fruit and structure. Quite complex with memories of old books in the library on the nose. Silky finish. "Intellectual" wine...really generates a lot of memories of "older" things...

January 5, 2015 - Not the world's greatest La Mission, but given the price due to the poor vintage, I very much enjoyed this wine. Feels like the shadow or echo of a great LMHB, but just lacking the power and depth. Nice easy drinking claret.
