June 6, 2022 - Powerfull, fruit, round, long, cigar, earth, nice sweetness, good backbone by tannins. Perfect balance. Long life ahead, but great now.

April 28, 2022 - Smelled and tasted fine. I do not believe it was fully corked but it did not ended up being served. Decanter would have worked magic.

April 17, 2022 - 1986 chateau Margaux, imported SDVF Bordeaux.
    12.5% ABV

Mid neck fill, cork pulled cleanly. Color: ruby/garnet, not bricking yet.

Nose of raisins, blackberry, slight citrus. A little funk initially, but burned off quickly. Slightly closed initially. Tasted best about an hour in.

Taste: cherry, blackberry, cigar box, little citrus. Mild level tangy, touch of cedar, nutmeg. Tannins present, but balanced. No bitterness, cohesive. A little fine sediment at the bottom. The wine is delicious and has that pull-you-back quality.

Overall it's a balanced, elegant border; meeting expectations for a 36 year old Bordeaux.

April 1, 2022 - Dark purple with surprisingly little bricking given the age.

Incredible bouquet and perfume, evolving over a long while. Feels so young still. Amazing structure and with tannins which are subtly present though very well integrated and balanced.

Blackberry, dark cherry. Fruit and tertiary notes inc cedar and just a touch of mature forest floor. Long finish with cherry. Later pours after a bit more air absolutely sensational. So rich and complex and long. This will go on for decades to come.

March 1, 2022 - No, not a storage issue. A pristine bottle kept by a serious collector since release. This is all wrong and not even close to the reasons why Chateau Margaux paved the path for the whole community to follow in making soft, seductive, floral wines that aged gracefully to eventually become perfume to the Bordeaux enlightened. The 1986 vintage was a definite hit and miss and some hit it and some hoped to create something big and brawny that would be marvelous with time. This one seems to be dying before being born. The lack of freshness is the main turn off with this, the Las Cases, and the Lafite for that matter. This is super extracted, tannic, and stewed in comparison to any drinkable Bordeaux. The finish brings back the same sad flavors of the palate that almost seem liquor like without any finesse. Unfortunately the porty wines of 1986 are not going to get any love from my honesty.

Im either totally wrong, or this is a long way away from home. I would have guessed RB 2003 Bordeaux if blind. I will not score this....
