May 16, 2023 - Opened and poured with burrito night. Pours a ruby to pink/slight oranging on the rim. Cork showed some weakening and disintegrative beginnings...Medium bodied, expressive pinot nose on the slightly musky side. Nice and integrated, with good fruit still - showing plum, dark strawberry, hoisin, fruit leather. Alcohol well integrated - not too hot.

January 27, 2021 - PnP, then drank 3 days later kept in cellar. Still some fruit left on opening. Like the nose initially but quite significant heat on the palate with some bitterness. Typical over-ripened, high alcohol RR Pinot. Once enjoyed it a while ago but not any more. When tried it 3 days after opening, fruits are gone. Still quite low on acidity. It is just way too heavy and ripe with not enough acidity to be harmonized. Won't buy KB any more unless they have significant change in wine making style even at $60.

January 4, 2016 - Never been a fan of the '06 single vineyards. Big, hot and for me out of balance. (84)

October 1, 2015 - This is the last of my 2006 Kosta Browne Amber Ridge Pinots. It was originally purchased from the winery when first released and has always been stored while aging at 55 degrees and 60% humidity. The wine was a little cold when first opened, having come straight from my wine cave. We took our time and let it warm up a little in the glass.
To the eye this Pinot was a red ruby color, with a mineral toast and hints of black pepper on the nose. The first tastes was of a well aged, smooth Pinot with some pepper and blackberries on the palette. It had a medium body and a very smooth texture. As the bottle was slowly consumed over more than an hour, the Pinot continued to develop more structure with some acidity and a long finish.
For a not-so-great vintage, this 2006 has certainly held up well.

December 24, 2014 - Drinking beautifully. Soft. More secondary flavors but still lovely fruit. Just browning a bit on the edges. Wish it wasn't my last bottle.

July 16, 2014 - very good. could go 5 more years easily.

at this point not particularly complex. with kosta it's getting to the point where i feel like they put it in the KB machine and they all come out tasting pretty near the same. delicious, but the same.

May 2, 2014 - Not sure if this is slowly aging or just staying as it was as its been a long time since I had one. Lots of cali fruit, leads with some cola, toasty oak and raspberry, nice zingy finish. Very easy to drink.
