November 15, 2023 - No decant; 18c; feint nose of wet leather and sage; soft and round in the mouth, vigorous tannins, full fruit, gripping, minutes-long finish; schist, tin, red fruit, tobacco; a bit weak, bottle variation or it’s fading; 17.5 (next day was drinking nicely: would upgrade score to 18)
April 25, 2020 - Has the look of a maturity, smells like well matured but kept the freshness of youth. Terrific!
February 23, 2019 - Mature. Roses and mushroom on the palate
January 12, 2019 - Russk. At Fabios, clean feminine, moderate alcohal. Very nice and much more accessible than what I remember of the 2008.
November 17, 2018 - This was a unique wine that was more like candied cough medicine with youth and tug and pull. Very well made and crafted, but the herbacious fruit for me was a bit too contrived or kiddish..Almost artificial or manipulated in some way. Still very young and playful. All I can say is unique! Drink or hold
November 14, 2018 - Terroirs and Vintages of Barolo: Medium red. Pronounced coconut inflected oak but has a nice febrile character; washed wool. Velvety(?), sweet and warm on the palate. Not classical, quite soft, round, lacking a bit of focus. Not amongst my WOTNs but a couple of group members had in their top 3.
July 20, 2018 - 18c; no decant; clean bricked-red; spirited nose of tobacco, mint, flowers, funghi; vigorous grip, with silken (yet firm) tannins, lingering for more than a minute; bright minerals, dried cherries, mint, caramel, candy apple, chocolate; complex, seductive; 18.5
May 10, 2014 - - Ruby color with medium forming legs and aromas of tar, tobacco, raspberry and strawberry. It's in total harmony and has flavours of rose and black pepper with a medium/full body. Round texture with a medium finish.
July 3, 2013 - bottle opened three hours, decanted in crystal; clear, bricked red; bright nose, prominent mint and anise; angular structure, with dense minerality delivering a long, gripping finish; schisty, touch of tin, raspberry, strawberry, lots of mint, anise, pipe tobacco; classic style, distinctive; 18
May 12, 2012 - Took some time to open up, but when it did...wow! Still has 2-3 years to go for sure. Sort of wish I had waited. Still had the usual Nebbiolo tannic grip, but was balanced by soft red fruits, notes of licorice, rose and earth. Aromatics became much more intense after the 1st hour as well. A lovely wine.
