March 19, 2023 - Lovely but needed a longer decant. Opened up nice toward the end
October 19, 2022 - Dark hazy red in color with lightening around the edges. After about 3 h this was superb, showing expressive dark florals, black cherries/plums, tar, graphite and tobacco. Ample and full-bodied in the mouth showing structured and savory dark red fruits, medium acidity and fine-grained tannins with a long floral finish. Great showing.
May 29, 2022 - Decanted for 2 hours before tasting over several more. This was delicious. Brick garnet color. Nose seems to indicate the modern style of the wine with some oak derived notes but still quite expressively Nebbiolo. Rose petals, earthy mushroom, truffle and cherry abound. Tannin is mostly integrated but there is still some structure there. Long finish. Great with grilled pork tenderloin.

December 23, 2021 - Medicinal bouquet with mint, ripe berries, tar, mint. Smooth and juicy palate with quite a good amount of freshness, leading to a spicy finish, lasting quite a bit. Pleasant wine with a good amount of complexity, not fully harmonic in every dimension, but very enjoyable.
December 16, 2021 - 这个酒,刚开瓶气味就很好,有份量,有醋味,口中一般,放到第二天,进入了状态,但就是成熟的Barolo,没太大特色. 第三次,倒出半瓶,分装1/4瓶。三小时后,不好,装入原瓶,第二天,四小时进入状态,五小时更好,暖,甜,醋,有份量。但是没气味,而且颜色很重。
第四次,分装小瓶里的,醒酒4小时,气味挺充沛,口中也很好,还是醋味主导的酒。很好。
August 7, 2021 - 1st bottle of 3. Decanted off extremely heavy sediment. Deep tawny color - very advanced appearance. Dull nose of menthol and balsamico mingled with light roses. Very subdued dark fruit notes. Not oxidized but fading. Palate is intense and dominated by powerful balsamic notes offset by slight dark fruit flavors. This bottle is over the hill. It was well stored since release so hopefully it's an aberration. Very disappointing bottle from one of my favorite producers.
March 10, 2021 - Barolo Lunch at SanShuGong. Drank in Grassl Cru. Tasted semi-blind.
Appearance is clear, medium intensity, ruby colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with an initial blast of vanilla oak that blows off/integrates, revealing aromas of sweet spices, dark plums, black cherries, tobacco. Developed.
On the palate, dry, medium+ acidity, high alcohol (14.5%), grippy high tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of black cherries, blackberries, dark plums, tobacco, dark leather, sweet spices. Long finish.
Very good quality. Modern styled, but still enjoyable. Somehow feels fresher than the last time I had this bottle in 2017.

November 28, 2020 - Bouquet of medicinal notes, kirsch, grilled peppers, vanilla, undergrowth masking more fruity, floral tones. Lush, silky palate, with some toffee and coffee elements, with quite some acidity and some tannins, leaving a spicy, sweet, tannic finish.
