May 17, 2019 - Opened 3 hours earlier and decanted prior to pouring. Fine, light sediment. Ruby almost to the rim with little fading. Captivating aromas of orange peel, fennel, brown spice, and tobacco that just continued to expand. Medium body with a strong, consistent vein of soil throughout. As was the case the last time I had this, that citrus is indelibly etched and trumps any more traditional red or black fruit. Fabulous soil infused feel with perfect enlivening acidity that also penetrates and persists. Not terribly tannic, the shape here is provided by the acidity. I would guess that at age 15, this is just reaching an initial peak with secondary and tertiary nuance yet to come. Wonderful synthesis of power and subtlety. The undecanted remainder with the sediment showed more of the tobacco leaf that was apparent on the nose.

More somber, leathery, tarry, tannic, and chewy the next day, now presenting itself as more old style Barolo. The citrus note is still there in the nose, but less so on the palate.

March 27, 2019 - Drinking close to peak, just a hint of tannin. If you like really old Barolo, hold for 5-10 years, but if you like a fair amount of fruit without having to chew your wine, this is in a good spot.

OK, after an hour or so, the tannins kicked in big time. Chewbaca time.

February 2, 2019 - More than just a bad bottle. Opened 2 bottles with same result. Very oxidated, and so over the top. Not undrinkable but close. Well it shouldn't be, so it might be a bad batch. Not a lot of hope for my 2 last bottles.

2 days later: Changed my score to flawed. The nose is still very off and unpleasant, but the mouth is that of a very young quality barolo and not oxidated in any way.

November 20, 2017 - Fresh, anisette, bonfire, clear fruit, roses and red fruit; hard and very structured in the mouth. Wait.

November 18, 2017 - A private dinner at a friend's (Baarn, Netherlands): A blend of Cannubi, San Lorenzo, Rué and Rocche. Decanted for one hour. Classic and masculine style, firm but velvety tannins, deep and rich, spices and earth, very good length.
