March 7, 2020 - Rauno and Adithi's Valentine's Day Dinner (Wellington, NZ): Two Piemontese wines served blind as a pair to finish. Nick’s wine was aromatic with notes of earth, brushwood, red fruit and road tar, with some dark red roses. On palate, complex with lately red berry fruit, plums, tar and earthy. An iron core. Structured with real mid palate weight. Balanced and harmonious. Precise focused acidity. Approachable now but a baby really. This Barolo will I’m sure improve over the next 5-10+ years. Excellent!

January 11, 2020 - Clearly in the modern style but not overdone, there’s plenty of dark cherry and berry fruit. A pretty wine. Easy to drink but not much Nebbiolo character.

November 29, 2019 - Still tremendously young and vibrant. Should hold up for awhile.

June 9, 2019 - 2 bottles. 3 hour slo-o. From a great vintage, this wine is simply delicious with lots of depth, complexity and elegance. Decades of enjoyment ahead for this wine.

May 17, 2019 - Opened 3 hours earlier and decanted prior to pouring. Fine, light sediment. Ruby almost to the rim with little fading. Captivating aromas of orange peel, fennel, brown spice, and tobacco that just continued to expand. Medium body with a strong, consistent vein of soil throughout. As was the case the last time I had this, that citrus is indelibly etched and trumps any more traditional red or black fruit. Fabulous soil infused feel with perfect enlivening acidity that also penetrates and persists. Not terribly tannic, the shape here is provided by the acidity. I would guess that at age 15, this is just reaching an initial peak with secondary and tertiary nuance yet to come. Wonderful synthesis of power and subtlety. The undecanted remainder with the sediment showed more of the tobacco leaf that was apparent on the nose.

More somber, leathery, tarry, tannic, and chewy the next day, now presenting itself as more old style Barolo. The citrus note is still there in the nose, but less so on the palate.
