January 17, 2024 - Bright red-ruby, orange-brown rim appropriate to age. An initial fenugreek waft on the nose (suggestive of age-induced oxidation) dissipates with a bit of swirling to reveal bright, fresh fruit (black and red cherry, spiced plum, some enlivening red currant) with strawberry blancmange and some residual Indian spice. Steely too. Nice mouthfeel and impressive energy and vigour. Well integrated acidity. The clay-like tannins remain pronounced and contribute to a slightly muddy finish but overall a terrific bottle, perhaps my best of this vintage from Brovia.

October 14, 2023 - This is in a great spot right now. Deeply aromatic, layered and complex, it‘s showing notes of ripe dark red berries, some dried fruit, menthol, pine tree, also some flowery notes, truffle, mushrooms, tar, some orange zest. It‘s medium-full bodied, with excellent persistence, superb freshness provided by medium-high acidity and medium tannin that is still adding grip, but it‘s very silky. Excellent length. A superb Villero that is peak-drinking now and maybe for the next roughly 10 years. Beautiful.

October 8, 2022 - Incomplete Brovia 2004 horizontal (Garblet Sue' was missing).
All wines have been opened around 3pm and have been drunk (blind) over dinner in the evening starting around 9pm. No TN has been taken but the wines were commented openly before disclosing their labels. Later we continued drinking them and the leftovers even the day after.
To me this was the best of all four: it showed younger, still on the fruity side, but already tending to maturity, rich, elegant, exuberant and a real joy to drink.
This has many more years to go and should become a gem in ten years or so.

February 11, 2022 - Decanted for 2 hours, served with filet mignon with shaved black truffles. The color had quite a bit of browning. Nose was fragrant of cherries and floral notes. Lovely and silky on the palate, red cherries, florals and tar. Long finish - drinking really well!

March 12, 2021 - Lovely, developed aromas with tar and some furniture polish. A lot of tannins and acidity, but nicely balanced in a traditional style.
