April 14, 2024 - Another absolutely great bottle of this. Super expressive, complex, layered and deep, but with excellent freshness too. Notes of dark plum, menthol, spices, tar, graphite, cedar wood, as well as some tobacco.... It‘s full-bodied and powerful, with pretty high acidity and medium tannin that has melted aways a little more since my last bottle and that is excellent quality. Long finish with so much class and complexity. Superb bottle.

December 23, 2023 - First attempted drinking experience with this producer and it might be my last. Corked right out of the gate. No need to taste the TCA. Down the drain.

October 8, 2022 - Incomplete Brovia 2004 horizontal (Garblet Sue' was missing).
All wines have been opened around 3pm and have been drunk (blind) over dinner in the evening starting around 9pm. No TN has been taken but the wines were commented openly before disclosing their labels. Later we continued drinking them and the leftovers even the day after.
This was on the same flight as the plain Barolo and showed more elegant and refined, but was clearly also in top form and assertive. Tannins were even better integrated (or better buffered). I thought it was the Rocche (having mistook the "normale" for the Ca' Mia). It still has many years to go.

December 31, 2021 - Opened and double decanted about 8 hrs before dinner. Paired with pasta & white truffles and steak & fries. My cellar is pretty bare on truly old Barolo, but still was in the mood given the truffles. In short-this feels like in an in between stage, but drinking well- pretty great with the steak; needs time for that truffle pairing. Dark red fruits and floral notes dominate the nose. Resolved on the palate, though still a bit compact. Probably needs another decade or two for it to get where its going, and if this weren't my last bottle, I'd be eager to go along for the ride.

May 28, 2021 - First experience with this producer. Wow! This was an incredibly strong wine that improved through the evening. Aromatic showing dried fruits, petals, leather and sinew. Palate was very powerful, tannic, still showing a rather youthful exuberance. While tannic the ripe fruit still coated the tannins, and I found this rather pleasant. But this was clearly in the masculine powerful cap--while polished and balanced--is the opposite of elegant. Incredibly long complex finish of leather, spice, tar, and rose notes. Awesome wine. Became deeper and darker with air through the night. 95-96

April 9, 2021 - So my mileage varies a bit from other recent notes. I think there is a ton here and offers huge potential yet I think it is just a pup - a long way from hitting the maturity plateau. Beautiful red ruby color. The nose is dark, deep and stacked with rubber tire, cedar, purple flowers and anise. Almost dry port like. Super. The palate follows suit - it is rich and layered. Lots of fruit marries nicely with substantial acidity and structure. Explosive in the mouth from front to back. Lingers. Should be much better in 2030. Right now begs for a robust meal. So promising. (94+)

October 28, 2020 - Medium ruby with extensive bricking - unfiltered
Medium plus aromas of black cherry with cinnamon/ dried floral/ violet with graphite/ tar/ mineral elements as well as a strong underbrush/sage aroma - quite powerful and "dried"
Medium plus palate of fresh and dried red fruit and spice
Medium plus/ high tannins and medium plus acidity - very nice length
Very nice/ complex and dark rendition of Barolo
I think this is in prime drinking window now but can last for decades

    October 26, 2020 - Single blind tasting
Pale garnet with bricking, rim clearing and unfiltered
Aromatics medium +. Initially smoke, flint, burning pencil, dry herbs, and old cherries. Over time roses, moss and tobacco leaves. Mild oak
Palate medium +. Acid medium +. Tannins medium + fine on the teeth/gums. Alcohol medium. Brief ripe cherry followed by minerality and green leaves.
Finish has medium + length. Balanced
Dry glass aromas of intense potpourri.
Overall memorable experience. While it does not have the typical feminine characteristics I've come to expect from Nebbiolo, this in no way detracts given the above.
    Ready to drink now.

October 9, 2020 - I have had Ca‘Mia 2004 a few times over the last few years and I absolutely love it (and anything Brovia 2004 for that matter). Super expressive, layered, complex and deep, with notes of dark plum, menthol, spices, tar, cedar wood, some anise, as well as some tobacco.... It‘s full-bodied and powerful, with pretty high acidity and medium+ tannin that is excellent quality. Long finish with plenty of class and complexity. Another superb showing of 2004 Ca‘Mia. WOTN for me.
