Community Tasting Notes 2

October 23, 2011 - Slightly maroon color. Raisiny, gentle and alluring nose with brown madeirized notes. In the mouth the wine appears to be full-bodied and not that acidic, yet still it isn't that heavy, but actually rather light if compared to, for example, Ports. The taste is very sweet and quite sticky due to the lack of acidity, but we're still far from cloying. Raisins, milk chocolate, apricots, roasted coffee, hot cocoa and tannic bitterness on the palate. The wine situates itself taste-wise somewhere between a Ruby Port and a Tawny Port, combining nicely the best aspects of both. Great taste palette with impressive depth. Mid-length finish with herbs, caramel, tannic bitterness and mocha.

A Port-ish sweet wine that easily beats those rather clumsy and simple Ports in the same price range with its depth and quite light elegance. Good but not great fortified wine; definitely good QPR at 16,49€.

Sweet, fullbodied and balanced on the palate with slight grip of tannin. Cooked raisin, caramel and leather notes. Warm good length finish.
    A perfectly decent Banyuls.
