April 17, 2024 - So sweet! Came in next to last in a blind tasting of 2019 Napa cabs.

April 14, 2024 - Champers and Napa Cabs Blind - Fun Times! (Chateau Simms): I believe this wine received about a 2 hour Slo-O.

This was in a blind line up of some very prestigious 2019 Napa reds (and one 2016 thrown in), specifically:

    2019 MacDonald
2019 Kinsman Eades La Voleuse Du Chagrin
2019 Kinsman Eades Anjea Sleeping Lady Vineyard
    2019 Colgin Tychson Hill
    2019 Realm Absurd
    2019 Scarecrow
    2019 Harlan
    2019 Myriad Elysian
    2019 La Pelle Res
    2019 Magnificent 7
    2019 Cliff Lede Songbook
    2016 Colgin Tychson Hill

2019 Myriad Elysian - I guess I am an outlier here as I liked this wine! Yes, it was slightly sweeter than most of the other wines, but not too sweet! The richness of the fruit (Beckstoffer...go figure) and the smooth tannins stood out. A very nice wine and quite quaffable. Would be good with a steak or by itself. The wine definitely suffered slightly due to its company. Did have a Caymus SS quality to it (as others have alluded to), but the difference is I like Caymus SS! Like that wine, this would definitely be a crowd pleaser, but at the price, a rather spendy one! 95 to 96.

April 14, 2024 - Too ripe. Reminded me of the Caymus SS from the night before. Felt like Dr. Crane on steroids.

April 14, 2024 - Eyes Wide Shut - Day 2 (A quiet place): Nose: Dark red fruits, a bit manufactured, almost like confectionery type of dark red fruits.

Palate: Dark, ripe red fruits and deep dark earth.

The two are on the same page. Bonnie and Clyde doing slutty crimes together. A strong ripeness that some people might dislike. The nose gave something away that reminded me of the Caymus we had the day before.

April 14, 2024 - Spectacular wine. The multiple 100 ratings from the wine pros on this wine are justified. Solid on all levels. If you like big Napa new world fruit bombs that are not only big but also nuanced and balanced, this is you wine.

January 15, 2024 - Anyone feel the new release price on the Elysian is high along with other releases? Years past they have flown off the “shelf” with an allocation of 3 max but now with an allocation of 6, you can still buy. It never use to get to second tier allocation available. I’d love to support Mike and Leah because they are great people and at this price it’s becoming unobtainable for their long time supporters. Just me thinking this?

September 22, 2023 - 2nd of my 3 bottles. Opened up Friday night and gave 3 hours of air. Have no regrets about drinking this, a solid 98 and very good contender for one of my favorite wines drank in 2023. I would wonder how these drink after 7+ years, but I may not find out with only one bottle remaining.

June 24, 2023 - Two and a half hour decant. Deep dark ruby magenta color. Stewed plum, coffee, meringue, blueberry pancake, violet, and rosemary. Dry, full bodied palate, with vibrant, mouth filling acidity. Firm, tannins on the long finish.

This has a rich, yet feminine nose. The florals are too dominant right now. It’s absolutely in it’s early drinking window, but clearly youthful.

    June 19, 2023 - Also popped a 2019 Realm Dr. Crane

Slow ox for 4 hours. Off the bat, the Elysian was more expressive, and the preferred wine. The Realm needed food a bit more. Both with massive, lengthy finishes.

Revisited later, and it was holding its stride well. Not sure it was noticeably improved, but certainly didn't fall off.

This is certainly high 90s if not approaching 100 for me. Beautiful vino.
