February 19, 2021 - Stored at 55 degrees. Drank this some months ago a steak dinner. Dark cassis/black cherry-berry. Quite nice.

December 10, 2020 - What BADFISH said so well! Way better than I expected - at 18 years old, still a magnificent example of a classic, restrained, rewarding Napa Cabernet.
I only wish I could buy the the current vintage(s) for sub-$20 prices.

November 9, 2020 - Deep garnet core with great density to the rim and just ever so slight bricking. The nose is gorgeous with complex rich aromas of black currant, cigar box, pencil shavings, forest floor, and blackberry pie. The palate is similarly engaging with ripe dark fruit, sweet tannins that are remarkably firm, fresh supporting acidity, and great tertiary character. I purchased this wine for around $18 a bottle and the value is amazing for how much it delivers approaching twenty years of age.

July 25, 2018 - Drinking pretty nice. Probably could go another few years to let the tannins mellow; the fruit is there to last.

November 28, 2017 - Man this is still so rich and structured, surprising for a sub $20 Napa Cab of this stature and age. Loaded with blackberry, current leaf, cedar, sweet tannins, and adequate acidity. Still have a couple bottles so I'm thinking at least five years until the next one.

February 24, 2017 - Questionable storage -- may have been heat-exposed. Allowed to breathe in glass 4 hours before tasting, with sampling every hour. Clear deep garnet color. Initially this wine had a pungent, unpleasant bouquet of shoe polish and stewed vegetables and fruit. But after four hours of vigorous aeration (placing the glass of wine next to a window fan) most of the unpleasant volatile aromas dissipated, leaving a tolerable residual bouquet of faded creme de cassis, licorice, and forest floor, with no primary fruit discernible. Similar on the palate, medium-full body, drinkable with food.

November 24, 2016 - From Magnum. Had this with our Thanksgiving rib roast and it showed surprisingly well. Still looks quite youthful and drinks very nicely in this format. Very pretty and expressive on the nose. Powerful aromas of leather, spice, earth and crushed dark fruits fill the glass. Medium-to-full-bodied. Plenty of delicious cherry, plum and raspberry fruit remains. Quite elegant in style and weight, yet displays very good depth and intensity on the mid-palate. Smooth and polished on the finish, where silky tannins and notes of earth and leather leave a pleasant, lasting impression. A very nice Mondavi Napa Cabernet that has aged beautifully.

June 24, 2016 - This was enjoyable upon first pour but it was better after being opened a few hours. The fruit is fading but there is still some berry flavors to go along with the leather and earth aromas and flavors. Drink soon.

December 27, 2014 - From magnum. Opened up after sitting in the decanter for a couple of hours. Dark red color. Palate of black fruit with leather on the nose. Great with steaks.

June 7, 2014 - Decanted upon arrival...medium red...lively nose of dark red cherries, some earth...a finish of pure silk with no tannins whatsoever...can't believe this is 12 years old.
