September 18, 2021 - Amazing nose, smelled much younger than it was. Strawberry, menthol, herbs, a little tar, medium finish. Lots of life to it and was better and more expressive than the 1997 rocche dei Manzoni Barolo S. Stefano we had alongside and had expected to best it.
May 6, 2021 - OMG! Does it get much better than this?!? Alas, my last bottle. Plenty of life left if you’re lucky enough to have some still in your cellar.
December 1, 2020 - Truffles (or was that the truffles on the pizza??), underbrush, soft earth, lower tannins, youthful (boy was I off on this one. I'll blame it on the truffles). I guessed younger bordeaux super tuscan blend. I thought it was good, classic, well-structured (tannins probably did mellow outwith the age on this). Enjoyed this, not a super star. DD at Cotzen's.
May 13, 2019 - From 1/2 bottle and showing its age and format a bit. At the open was almost rancid, turned. Did get a little better but never good. Probably an off bottle but from a 375ml it may be gone. One left to try....
December 24, 2018 - Opened about 7 hours before drinking, decanted 2 hours before. Spectacular! Everything a great Brunello should be. Drinking at its peak right now.
November 15, 2018 - Fantastic bottle...lots of secondary characteristics on both the nose and palate. Still a good bit of fruit left. Everything an aged brunello should be.
November 10, 2018 - Very nice tonight. Almost Barolo like with leather, saddle, soy, dark berries. Opened nicely over a few hours. From 1/2 bottle and still has plenty of life. Very elegant and refined. Great tonight.
November 25, 2017 - Wonderfully complex and integrated. Opened about 7 hours before serving. Appears to be at peak maturity.
November 20, 2017 - Consistent notes from the past - great wine even from a 375ml. Leather, ash, tobacco, black fruit, clove, faint cherries. Great wine.
October 5, 2017 - Consistent notes. Good and well integrated from 1/2 bottle. Drinking well.
