March 1, 2016 - The re-creation of the ancient Pompeii wine with ancient varietal, wine making methods, with the vines grown in the ruins of Pompeii. Nose of logan, oxidized fruits, some funk. Ample but soft tannin, medium plus acidity, medium body with dried and oxidized fig, prune and plenty of natural wines characteristics. Could last 5 to 10 years more for more integration as tannin is still a little distanced from the fruit, tho given the medium intensity of the fruit it may not improve much more. The tannin and acidity gave it a fairly decent finish but there ain't much depth and complexity to match its storied background, probably due to the relatively young vines. Typical Mastroberardino style tho so it wouldn't be hard to spot in blind tastes.

December 20, 2013 - Difficult cork extraction. Inky dark. Not much bouquet. The payoff was in the tasting. Plenty of structure, nice acidity, deep but not fulsome fruit. A wine best with food.
