February 12, 2010 - Delicious. Some earth and leather with cherry color. Burgundian, even, with sous Boise. - paid $40 at landmarc and felt it was a great buy.

April 30, 2009 - Like a Cannonau and a Gamay had a sassy toddler: has the wet, cherry hookah tobacco tone of Cannonau, and a light, almost insolent candied quality of a Gamay—quite like dried apricot. This wine is all nose and little midpalate and finish. Still addictive all the same. My first Frappato, and I must say I’m ready to hunt for more. Would definitely buy for $18 again. Held up well in the fridge for the next day as well.

April 3, 2008 - Light/Med body. Lovely dark red fruit on the nose. But bright red cherry and raspberry hint at the palate. Not frivolous though. A little dry, but not tannic. Light acidity will cut through a delicate ricotta without overwhelming the dish. Addictive. Light- Medium body. But full flavor that stands up nicely to varied holiday flavors - especially cheese. Claret color and character. Fruity but not sweet. Right down the middle crowd-pleaser (0 views)

Astor: $19 - A dry red made from Frappato, a very Sicilian grape variety. Pretty from the start, this scrumptious wine is ruby red in color, with firm raspberry fruit and lively acidity. It is the perfect easy-drinking wine to enjoy every day with Italian red sauce dishes.

January 29, 2008 - Bright ruby in color. Aromas of musky flowers, very perfumed but in an almost synthetic way. Flavors of bright cherry. As perfumed nose dissipates, it does gain a little traction on the palate but not much. Surprising for a Sicilian red, drinks like a highly aromatic gamay.Like gamay, this does well with a little chill on it--as much as you would give to a beaujolais, and perhaps as much as you would give to a beaujolais nouveau.
