September 18, 2018 - Time has been kind to this wine. Same impressions as I posted 4/6/16. One bottle left.
July 10, 2018 - I found this bottle hiding and was concerned that it was past it's window of goodness. Happily, it was tasting like what a good bold Zin should. As you might expect, it had some dusty leathery qualities at the finish, but all in all quite delicious
December 9, 2017 - Auction purchase. Excellent corks. Boysenberry, cassis, black cherry. A bit cough syrup-like but delicious and younger than expected.
August 21, 2016 - At home with my shrimp/Andouille/veggie grill. Two bottles of Modat previously (savory syrah), looking for something to stand up to some mild spice. Been a while since I visited this wine, last bottle. PnP, drank over an hour.
Prior notes: "Dark ruby color. Baking Spices and red fruit on the nose. Palate is sweet (not syrupy) and fruit forward. Valerie doesn't like "sweet" wines and really liked this. Blackberry, plums, cherry candy, molasses, caramel, red fruit. A touch of spice, pepper, heat on the mid palate and finish...Has really mellowed, tannins integrated, smooth but still showing a big fruit profile..."
Really nice and mellow at this point, probably past its prime but still very nice to drink. Classic Hayne sourced Zin...
April 6, 2016 - Improved in the 5 years since last approached. Lovely fruit on the nose and palate, soft tannins, nice mouth feel. Glad to have 2 more.
March 4, 2016 - Quite jammy at first, but settled down after it breathed for a while.
June 12, 2015 - I really enjoyed this and reaching it's peak in aging in the bottle, I have 1 bottle left and will be having a sirloin steak and potatoes

August 29, 2014 - This particular bottle had all the echoes of wonderful head-pruned Zins...(or so I wuz told by my leader Stephen Colbert). Lengthy finish, balanced sweet yet tart reddish notes...not to be confused with SweetTart notes...and just a hint of ash-tones suggesting its age. The epi-toam of Hayne-sourced Zin, IMNSHO. (Take that, Turley!)
A very fine bottle, indeed. Wish I had more. Great bottle graphics, BTW.
January 25, 2014 - Forgot about this wine in my wine cabinet. Glad I did. The time served it well. Very smooth with excellent fruit and fine tannins. Wish I had more.
