November 28, 2019 - I'm guessing that this Lauren has been about a dozen years in bottle. And yet, it seemed young with basic but not extravagant profile. I've enjoyed may Aubert Chardonnays over the years and the Lauren has usually been my favorite. The oak was quiet, the grass was barely noticeable and yet the balance was serene. Frankly, it could have been steel aged.

September 29, 2019 - The signature complexity and soft structure of the Aubert wines were still there but there is not enough acidity to keep it fresh and light. This is definitely past its peak and on a downward path. Not that it would be oxidized in anyway but it is just not that pleasurable anymore. That Cali Chardonnays can indeed age for decades showed the Mount Eden Chardonnay 1992 (SC Moutains, rated 94) we had next to it and which still had a perfect structure. If the Aubert would have the same acidity, it would be a 96/97 points wine.

TN: Very round and soft wine with a quite ripe sweet white and yellow fruit core which often marks the Aubert Chardonnays. Nicely layered with additional aromas of salt, just hints of oak aromas with some vanilla but nothing of the signature matchstick reduction the wines show in their youth. A few small notes of nuts but otherwise no hints of oxidation. Very balanced, with good precision and length. Just the acidity is missing.

    Decanting: No decant needed.

March 20, 2019 - SO'd for 90 min, deep gold, creamy yellow fruit, went beautifully with the new sea bass dinner at Capital Grille last night; outstanding & ready to drink, but no rush
