April 28, 2022 - Off btl. Darker color signifying poor storage as I bought in the secondary market.
April 2, 2022 - Fat and flabby. Poor storage is my suspect.
October 23, 2020 - My second recent try of this bottle. (A few weeks apart.) This one showed better than the last one but still only a shadow of its former self. Golden yellow - almost like apple juice. Nutty overtones, the acidity is there but no longer feels fresh. The fruit is faded, but what’s there is fairly good. But, again, nowhere near as good as younger examples of this wine.
September 30, 2020 - Over the hill. Apple juice color and the cork crumbled. Flat and dull, hints of oxidization.
November 7, 2019 - I love Aubert and while I bought this online, this was not in the best shape. A bit darker color, musty nose, good palate feel, less fruit, older yet drinkable over the hour we enjoyed it.
October 18, 2019 - Butterscotch with honeysuckle. Some roasted apple but with some nice acid on the finish to prevent it from going over the top. Really enjoying this.
September 5, 2019 - Second last bottle of this. lovely light hay color, fruit has mellowed...lovely creaminess.
February 3, 2019 - Outstanding Btl. Color light hay, smells terrific, youthful, yet integrated flavors, long finish. 13 years old!
August 13, 2018 - Gold color, advanced sherry aromas on the nose. Flat palate, low acid. Drink up!
May 4, 2018 - Wow, was this a beautiful wine!
Given its age, it was still youthful and fresh. As with all Aubert wines, it had great color - light gold in this case. It looked "mouth coating" even in the glass and was better on the palate. It had great mouth feel with citrus and pear notes, and a finish that left you asking for more.
I thought that this was the WOTN, just nosing out a lovely 1980 Stag's Leap Cab and a head in front of a very nice 1990 Soutard.
