Community Tasting Notes 10

September 17, 2015 - Some volatile acidity on the initial glass, which seemed to have went away over the course of the evening. Nice CDP, but does not stand up to others in its pedigree in this vintage.

Just read other tasting notes on this wine. The unusual acidity seems consistent across the board on this wine. My bottle seemed to perform better after significant aeration.

February 4, 2014 - Very poor indeed. Bought 12 magnums of this in Feb 2006 from one of the most prestigious Wine stores in London. Opened first magnum in mid 2013, and it was fizzy, and bitter, and highly acidic.Waited to see if it would change- it did not. Next magnum we decanted, and it too was awful. Have opened 8 magnums to date and only 2 were drinkable.
A complete waste of money.Wine was well stored in the same conditions as the rest of my cellar. Some prior comments on this site allude to problems with this wine if you read between the lines. I am more straightforward. Will not buy any Chapoutier wines again.

December 24, 2012 - Disappointing. Not much going on. Flavors muted. I think it's over the hill.

December 8, 2012 - Good balsamy, brambly raspberry, loamy earth. A touch of a VA/chemical note brought it down some for me tho.

April 3, 2012 - Mmm, peppery, spicy, structured and intense. This is a ripe young beast of a wine that is showing a ton of structure at this stage.
