April 23, 2016 - Nearly the same perfection as the 1999 Teurons (93points). More feminine style. Don`t decant now, very ripe and fine pinot noir. We love the wines of Geoffrey Choppin de Janvry because they need a long development (at least 10 years) in the cellar. Very good price quality relation. Tasted at least 20 bottles during the last 10 years.

February 2, 2015 - just lovely in all regards. really puts the finer california pinots ive been drinking in their place.

this opened up nicely from significant fruit to leaner and more acidic (still ripe however) over 2-3 hours in the decanter.

at $40 this is just such a better value than domestic pinot.

April 22, 2013 - I just did not get this wine at all, waited all evening and not much going on except herbal and mushrooms.

September 15, 2011 - The label was a little roughed up but the cork and fill were good. This is a newer style of Morot with more weight and is, at least at this point, less to my liking. The older Morot wines (1993 and earlier) are lovely, traditional examples of their Beaune terroirs. After that time more new oak was used and they are more anonymous and less burgundian. Out of the bottle and blind, I wasn't certain that this was even burgundy as there is obvious oak and no sous bois. The taste is not unpleasant, but annonymous and attenuated finishing short. We had this with a rather spicy dish to which it (and perhaps many other reds) was ill-suited so perhaps it was tried under less than optimal conditions. It was much better the next day, but not like the old Morots. It had graphite, berries and a little spice - really pleasant as a drink by itself. I suppose that this experience suggests the potential for improvement with age and I recommend holding this wine for many more years, but I do not believe it will have that old Morot elegance.

April 30, 2010 - Really pretty aromas of flowers, rusty rock, and smoky tobacco waft all around as this gets decanted, confirming that this '99 isn't going to be shut down by a long shot. And in fact it's extremely accessible. The fruit is a bit past the initial primary stages of sweetness and gloss into more of a restrained plumminess, but there's still enough freshness to it to saturate most of the tannin and make this a fairly easygoing wine to drink, surprising considering that the early notes had emphasized its structure. In fact the balance between flesh and bones here is pretty flawless. There is more density to this than a lot of Beaune 1er crus which offers a nice canvas for the florality and other interesting elements that lace the juice.
