May 2, 2017 - 1999 RIDGE PAGANI RANCH SONOMA VALLEY ZINFANDEL [3 btls]- 7% Alicante Bouschet, 3% Petit Sirah; very similar to the 99` Geyserville in that I found clove, mint and dried cranberry notes plus some talc; the fruit seemed to be on the wild side; I checked my glass to make sure I did not still have the Geyserville in it.
March 28, 2017 - Pnp. Had at a tasting of old Zins. One of the best wines of the night. Still has some cherry fruit. Good balance. A little pepper. A very good wine.
December 14, 2014 - Beautiful wine that sat in my cellar a few years too long. Nose is amazing, blackberries, raspberries, blueberries and oak. Tasting, it's missing the big punch of fruit you expect from this Zin but still very pleasant.
November 8, 2009 - Boys nite with New World wines, uncommon varietals (Reno, NV): Badly corked.
January 18, 2009 - Deep red color, some transparency starting to be evident with enough back lighting. Effusive zin-berry nose, bordering on jammy, but remains fresh. On the palate, this has the Draper perfume with blackberry, raspberry, blueberry, and some licorice notes. This has integrated nicely, but still shows a very primary fruit profile. Good now and will likely develop some secondary character over the next decade, if you care to hold.
September 14, 2008 - In its prime -- I wouldn't hang on to this much longer. Moderate sediment.
Lucious fruit (more stone than berry), balanced with good acid. Tannin well integrated. Not overblown, but still a "big" wine.
April 4, 2007 - Enjoyed with the 98 Pagani. Tannins were very little noticed. Last of the case.
January 29, 2006 - Thin and tired. Drink up.
January 19, 2006 - Very good. Fully integrated tannins. Anyone holding this wine should drink it now
January 23, 2004 - Red Carpet: Med. scarlet purple, little change; beaut. smth int. nose of garrigue/moount. brush/leather, some craberry, some spices; nice frty-sour candy attack, grt well-bal, hint of van., med. bod, med. t’s, good all around, pleasant fin.
