Community Tasting Notes 7

October 8, 2017 - Really deep. PJ has outdone himself. Lots of cigar box, tobacco and a lingering finish that keeps you coming back. Chocolate notes and very dark fruit. At the very end of the evening picked up some hints of caramel. Waited on this one for a while, and was not disappointed one iota (except that it's my last one!)

We decanted this and there was a little residual with some sediment. Poured that into a glass at the very end and had a sniff and small taste. Though cloudy and you could taste the sediment, even that was yummy.

December 29, 2016 - This 2202 vintage is fantastic. Let it breath about 3 hours and it opens up dramatically. The wine is deep ruby colored. There was light sediment in the bottle. It smells like a bounty of fruit but black berry and currant (cassis) come to mind. The body is medium/full. The wine has a silky texture which finishes long. Truly a very good meritage.

June 1, 2014 - Berry. Slightly dry but smooth and mellow

July 21, 2012 - Popped and let sit open for 15 minutes. Lots of fruit on the nose. On the palate soft, tasted of cherry pie filling. Lots of sweet fruit followed by a bit of a wood note and a slight tannic finish. Probably the sweetest Cab blend I've ever had (note still not sweet enough to hold up against a sweet bbq sauce). It's pretty well integrated now, so if you like big fruit drink now. If you are hoping for a more subdued, intricate cab I'd definitely hold a couple years. A little skeptical of where this is going considering how soft the wine is already.

April 8, 2012 - Had big hopes for this based on how meticulous the wine maker is in creating this wine. It was a very good wine, but nothing more. Noted a slight bit of sweetness for a cab blend. Medium to light bodied.
