October 27, 2023 - All the classic vintage port markers. Was a bit worried by previous taste notes and because I cant remember if I've actually tried this producer before.
But it was a very nice bottle. Maybe not as complex as a Fonseca or Taylors but very enjoyable and quite elegant.

April 5, 2023 - Kork ut hel i god form.

Mørke brun og rød farge. Ikke helt klar.

Lukter mørk karamell, men lukten forsvinner fort.

Tyktflytende konsistens. Mørk karamell også på smak. Sjokolade. Passe søt. Merkbar alkohol. Mye smak. Litt hul smak. Virker ikke som en helt optimal flaske.

    Meget lang.

God, men kanskje litt ubalansert og litt mye alkoholpreg.

Drukket over fem dager. Stått i kjøleskapet. Oppleves mer balansert og fyldig etter noen dager. Alkoholen også bedre integrert. Øker poengsummen fra 90 til 91.

Totalinntrykket er en god portvin, men mistenker at flasken ikke er optimal.

July 27, 2018 - Medium garnet to medium tawny colour.
Nose: Blackberries, dark cherries, dried figs, rosehip, violets, tar, some dark chocolate. A bit of alcohol on the nose, but nothing unpleasant. (88p)
Taste: Medium sweet and quite peppery. Moderate fruitiness. Appears mature. Drier and better structured than last time tasted (11 months ago). Parts of this wine reminds me of a 20 year old tawny. (86p)
Mature. Drinking well now. Developed and kept nicely in closed, refrigerated bottle over a week after opening. Should keep but I’m not sure how much, if any, it might improve (drink by 2020).
Total score 87 points (up from 84 points last time. Was I too strict then or was it a lesser bottle...?).

September 4, 2017 - (Drunk straight after decanting)
APPEARANCE: Brick red with a tint of orange at the rim.
NOSE: Takes a little while to open up. Starting with dried figs, dark plums, some tar, some alcohol and a little black pepper. Old berry liqueurs, mulled wine, dried ginger, hints of marzipan and semolina (86p)
TASTE: The arrival is sweet, with a moderate punch. On the mid palate there is not very much fruit but there is some freshness/acidity although it's not completely balanced. Towards the exit it becomes more spicy, peppery, slightly more (but not overly) tannic, with some alcohol (less pronounced than last time). More sweetness than fruit. The aftertaste is medium long and quite pleasantly dominated by sweetness and black pepper. (82p)
CONCLUSION: This is a decent, fully mature 37 year old vintage port. It was probably at it's peak 5-10 years ago. Like last time I note that it's one dimentional, without much complexity. The reduction in fruitiness, alternatively the absence of more secondary or tertiary flavours, is a minus. The wine is still alive and enjoyable but it's time to drink up. Drink lightly chilled for optimal freshness.
    Total score (86+82/2) 84 points.
