Community Tasting Notes 3

March 5, 2024 - I can really only give this a neutral, 89 points. Not bad, but nothing special, and really not worth the price I paid ($30). Both the aroma, and the mouthfeel had a bit of a green, medicinal feel to it. This is 9 years old, it should be nicely aged, relaxed & smooth. It was far from that. The cork, and bottle had almost no sediment at all. In fact, the bottom of the cork was still a very light pink. It tasted like it was a young ‘22 CS. I love Spring Mountain (and Rutherford!), so don’t get me wrong, Smith-Madrone, also on Spring Mountain, does some spectacular stuff, and is a much greater value ($52), even at <2X the price!!!

January 20, 2024 - This wine was a real surprise. I thought it was good, but when I gave a bottle to a friend who served it at a gathering, everyone was coming up to him and mentioning how unusually good the wine was. Powerful and grapey...has a lot going on.

January 7, 2024 - intense dark fruit flavors are bursting - Wild blueberry, dark cherry, raspberry, and exotic spices. The tannins are well-structured, accompanied by a very broad finish full of length.
