September 10, 2021 - Significantly sweet and moderately dense but adequate acidity and not at all ponderous. An enjoyable wine for sipping, certain. cheeses, and was good even with crab cakes.

August 24, 2020 - After the first corked bottle.
Ripe orchard fruit, honeyed florals and red soil on the nose. It is ripe and broad on the palate with enough acidity to carry it well. More honeyed fruit orchard bordering tropical on the palate, It shows the forwardness of the vintage, but does so well without heaviness. It has a good sense of its red soil, and good minerality, very well balanced RS and acid. It's a bit lusher than my ideal spatlese, coming across as more of Auslese weight. Nonetheless, this has a degree of clarity, depth, and focus that is admirable. Finishes long. Showing youthfully very well right now. FWIW, a terrific pairing with carnitas (I find fruity red slate and porphyritic rieslings to be a great paring with carnitas).

March 20, 2019 - Quite sweet, but with excellent, lively acidity to balance it and keep everything fresh. Medium-full but light in mouth. Candied orange zest and marzipan. Not the most complex wine, but gulpably delicious. Cellared since original release.

March 29, 2015 - Very ripe and very sweet, but not ponderous. There's acidity to balance the sugar, though not quite enough for my taste. This tastes more like a GKA than a spatlese. No botrytis bitterness detected. With more acidity this would be an outstanding wine.

June 28, 2013 - Medium to full body, with an extraordinary mouthfeel, and great balance. Flavors of green mango, grilled pineapple, apple, and waxy honeysuckle. Long waxy, mineral finish that morphed into zesty lemon notes over two hours. Began loosing its earlier crispness. Held up quite well to a spicy-sour tom yum soup. Cork broke toward the end. I can see this easily being confused for an Auslese in a few years. 92+

November 22, 2011 - Medium to full body but not at all cloying; typical petrol on the nose, which vanishes after oxidation; on the palate notes of honeyed apple and lime, and faint petrol on the back palate; medium plus, crisp finish that leaves a honeyed/minerally aftertaste. Overall, the sweetness is very well framed by a medium acidity. 88-89

June 25, 2009 - Very good. Quite ripe with weight of the vintage but somehow remains light. Not at all tiring or ponderous. Ripe yellow fruits, good balance, pretty honeysuckle note at the end.

June 9, 2009 - Medium yellow. This is a heavyweight Spatlese, fairly sweet, tropical, and oily, although some apple notes give it some degree of freshness. Not my style.
