December 31, 2009 - Medium yellow-orange color. Medium bead. Cork came out with the slightest pfft. Aromas of almonds, mushrooms, and brioche. On the palate, the sherried almond and mushroom notes show the wine's age, but there's also a separate, fresh streak of baked bread, yellow apple, and flowers that seems to be out of place with the aged notes. This is broad-shouldered blanc des blancs and is not particularly complex. It is a good example of what blanc des blancs becomes with bottle age and proper storage. Drink or hold.

October 30, 2009 - Another fabulous showing for this wonderful mature champagne. I subtracted a couple of points because it faded after an hour or so but there's no doubt thiis is a beautifully balanced lush yet elegant BdeB. I can only wonder how good the Fleur de Passion bottling might be.

July 15, 2007 - Simply superbly elegant mature champagne. Amazingly light color and active mousse. Redolent of fresh spring flowers, just a hint of toast and honey. Gorgeous expression of chardonnay from Cramant. Greg and the Cataldos enjoyed it almost as much as I did at Cafe Boulud.

April 29, 2007 - Undeniably outstanding mature champagne. Active mousse for age; moderately deep aroma of wood, baked apple and nuts. Not oxidized, but right in the sweet spot of the secondary stage which makes aged champagne so much more interesting than a new release. Complex, intriguing. My first D-V and now I'll look for more.
