September 22, 2019 - Bright and pure ruby in the glass, pretty blackberry and cherry notes with an edge of savory spices. In the mouth, loads of sweet fruit that’s balanced by fresh acidity. Tannins are nicely settled at this point, but the finish is still firmly persistent and satisfying. Probably at peak, and stable and delicious here for at least another five years.

June 23, 2019 - The nose reveals; candied style blackberries, plum, boysenberries, stewed black plum, dark liqueur style cherries, black raspberries, blueberries, black licorice, sweet tarriness, crushed dry limestone, cinnamon stick, vanilla, dark chocolate, mocha with caramel, pepper, used leather, light notes of grilled meats, bright, dark red, purple flowers with violets.

The body is the leaner side of full. The tannins are nicely resolved but, still have tarry baby teeth. The structure, tension, balance and length have hit a sweet spot and still have at least 6-8 years of good drinking ahead. The palate fruits are ruby candied. Blackberries, olallieberries, plum, boysenberries, stewed black plum, dark liqueur style cherries, black raspberries, blueberries, black licorice, sweet tarriness, crushed dry limestone, dry top soils, wet clay, cinnamon stick, vanilla, dark chocolate, mocha with heavier caramel than the nose, dark spice with just a little palate heat, pepper, touch of mint with fresh herbs, used leather, notes of smokey, grilled meats, bright, dark red, purple flowers with violets. The acidity is near perfect. The long finish is; elegant, ruby, rich, well balanced and deliciously persistent. Just missed 94.

March 9, 2019 - Aged well in the cellar. The nose was enticing upon opening and the long finish was rewarding. It is a very elegant wine

February 11, 2019 - Remains huge. This repeatedly punched a 2012 Cayuse Wallah Wallah mag in the face. What a brute. Minimal to no secondary development. Very Good for what it is.

November 10, 2018 - This was missing most signs of fruit life, though showed some pedigree. The spice was well-integrated. Overall though, just not showing as well as one would expect. I still fondly remember how utterly stellar the ‘98 was, though its heyday is long past.
