October 15, 2020 - Consumed over two days. This is past its prime but delicious, still.

First day, this wine took about an hour to open up. Dark, dark chocolate covered cherries, pepper, moderate tannins. No real evidence of the 15.7% -OH.

Second day, this wine was modestly delicious. Excellent body & mouthfeel, a sip felt weighty & substantial. Finished with a PC burger, the weight, tannins, licorice and tar met up nicely.

July 13, 2020 - Holding up exceptionnally well! What a pleasure and delight. I feel Gold Mine Ranch had a potential a slight notch below Montafi, Papera and Carlisle Vineyard, but this fully resolved, complete Zinfandel was almost up there

October 13, 2017 - On the lighter side, but still quite juicy. No signs of falling apart

November 12, 2012 - Sadly, I think this is the last of my Carlisle 2006 vintage Zins. Certainly going out on a high note. 15.7% ABV. Translucent dark garnet in the glass. Rather soaring aromatics of red raspberry/Zinberry and baking spices (clove, mostly to my sniffer). Bright red berry fruit on the palate with great length. Ripe certainly but rather light on its feet. Very compelling.

April 27, 2012 - Had this with Morelli's Spicy Dark chocolate ice cream. WOW! The pairing was nuts, it had a hint of spice but a lot of flavors that the ice cream allowed to show through. Milk chocolate would have been tough but the Dark Chocolate was outstanding with it.

September 5, 2011 - Translucent dark garnet in the glass. Complex nose of dry earth, pepper, and slate. Medium-full bodied with black fruit and a slate (chalk) note similar to the nose. Cool toned black fruit. More complex on the nose than the palate. This may have some room to open up further.

July 22, 2011 - Sacred Cow Rocky Mountain Offline - Day 3 (CAVU Cabin, Hartsel, CO): WIML91

Tasted non blind. Opened and served immediately.

Garnet color in the glass, slightly dusty looking. Nose of smoke, black berries and black cherries. Flavors of black berries, black cherries and a bit of raspberry. Medium acidity, medium tannins, full bodied. Drink or hold.

November 9, 2010 - On Sunday I drank about half this bottle through a 2 hour decant, then returned it to bottle and vacu-vinned it. No wine consumed Monday. Here on Tuesday, it is just freaking delicious. I noted more black fruit and chocolate in addition to the red fruit ganache qualities noted 3/09. Nice grippy but not tannic or gritty finish, fruit lush and strong. Should continue to improve for 1-2 years at least. No heat for me. Day 1 samples certainly not bad but not at this level. Insanely awesome finish in its depth and length, centered on its bramble fruit and plum core. Wow that's good Zinfandel. Yes I finished the bottle. &$#k yeah.
