April 26, 2024 - Delightful, delicious, seamless. This is the kind of Burgundy one could happily drain a magnum in a flash, alas we only had a 750 and it went down quickly.

July 27, 2023 - This was unexpected, opened at abt 5pm for dinner. And it took a little more time in the glass but I would say this is drinking at its best now but with many more years to come. Lots of secondary flavours, tea leaves, Sandlewood but giving so much delicate chambolle pleasure right now as well. It was balanced and showing beautifully and paired nicely with light sausage and meats. The only reason I didn’t score this more highly was the concentration/density could have been better.

August 2, 2019 - Surprisingly youthful, with intense dark cherry, and developing earthy character, but still needs more time , as tannins quite firm and significant. Will get much better with 5-6 more years . A real keeper!!

October 4, 2018 - Beautiful bottle. A little tannin, built to age, in the drinking window now and will be good for quite a while.

February 12, 2018 - Tight as nails on first pop, necessitating a decant, which helped reveal a nose of black cherry, roast coffee, and spice. Still fairly tight on the palate with a medium body and inelegant tannins. The 1998 Chambolle-Musigny 1er is pretty but will likely never find elegance. Made from Musigny grapes under 20 years of age. (Bottle 054)

October 29, 2017 - Savory, deep red fruits with underbrush. Seemed a bit tired and less vibrant than compared to the others, but only a small taste.

January 3, 2017 - Disappointing bottle, not corked but tired on nose and palate. Not as good as the first bottle.
