March 11, 2024 - This second bottle was even better than the prior with no bricking, dark cherry fruit and spice, some sweetness, tannins still present, nice acidity and a medium-long finish. An impressive effort from a “lesser” region in a great year and the wine was still coming on strong after 3 hours as we finished it No way would I have guessed this as nearly 20 years old.

December 17, 2023 - Holding up well with dark cherry fruit, pretty monolithic overall but a nice nose that opened up over time. Great QPR as a recent purchase <$50 for a 2005 red burg that drank very well.

May 17, 2016 - Muted nose on open, bright ruby color, no bricking. After an hour, bright, ripe medium red fruit emerges with a little earthy funk. Very strong tannic backbone and bright acids on the palate suggests this is just beginning to (or has yet to) enter its window. Long, puckery finish. This is a wine that one might use to introduce new world pinot lovers to some of the subtleties of finer red burgs without overwhelming them. Excellent and enjoyable, particularly at this price.

April 9, 2016 - In a really good place right now. Decanted for an hour. Nose is fruity ... Cherry and strawberry. There is a secondary of fall leaves. The palate is cherry and cranberry with smooth tannins than coat your palate. There is a solid acid backbone. This could have sat in the cellar for quite a bit longer, still very fresh. Finish is medium in length. Quite delicious and really quite affordable.

    November 13, 2010 - Decanted for 1 hour.
It's a bit shy on the nose with strawberries, herbs and earthy scents.
On the palate, it has nice tannins, but it's rather simple, thin and lacks in fruit extraction. The aftertaste is pretty short as well. In brief, this is an uninspiring and simple wine that's not worthy the investment.

August 30, 2008 - Big Ten of the Wine World (Farpointe Cellar): The nose had boysenberry, cherry, spice, and a little earth. The palate had cherry and spice, and finished with some earth.

January 29, 2008 - Barnyard and cherry aromas and palate. Spicy midpalate, nice open texture. Silky finish.
