August 2, 2015 - Brick red color. Very darkly fruited, a bit extracted and boozy on the nose, but also vibrant and nice fruit. Smells much like a 2006 Oregon Pinot Noir would expected to smell. Very softy fruited on the palate. Nice mellow texture. Really no tannins to speak of, with nice acid on the finish with good vibrancy of fruit. I actually think this bottle is drinking on the downward side of peak. No real tannins left, so time to drink, but it's also not too far gone; maybe have been more vibrant a few years ago.

May 8, 2014 - Seven+ years old and holding its own. One of the best under $30 2006 Oregon Pinot's I drank in 2008 that is still magnificent. Very much a Pinot but with healthy tannins I don't recall from previous bottles drank when released. Will continue to age well. Barnyard that blew off after the first glass, complex dark stone fruit, delicious. Beautiful aromas, great acid.

March 26, 2011 - I thought that this was the most unique tasting experience in the Willamette. a pole barn perched on the top of a on of the Dundee Hills surrounded by vineyard. The son of the vineyard manager conducted by tasting and I purchased several wines because each vineyard was distinctive. The Nekaia 2006 is brick red in color with a darker than usual color and normal weight. 3 The nose is classic Pinot a combination of dark cherry and mushroom earth and a lovely floral overtone. 5 The most important aspect of this wine revolves around its velvety texture, more weight than usual, with a moderate acidity and soft tannins and an extended sweet cherry finish. 6 Delicious, well made, breed but not pretentious. 3 I continue to enjoy this wine more than any other from my trip to Oregon with the exception of Archery Summit and Bergstrom. I have not tasted my Stevenson -Barrre wines. 17

February 14, 2011 - Popped and vinturi'd tonight. Nose of light cherry and vanilla. Light bodied w/flavors of cherry and a dash of vanilla. Pretty good.

December 13, 2010 - With a pork tenderloin in the oven I was moved to open the second of these; the first of which, Dulcie had consigned to the coq on Thanksgiving without even tasting it. Glad to report the coq was very fine. Quite light garnet color, typical ebullient aroma, jammy and rather short-lived on the palate; this could almost pass for a Cali PN in that regard. Enjoyable without complexity.

November 23, 2010 - Early TNs did not augur well, so not too upset about sacrificing this to Dulcie's coq; let's hope the coq doesn't protest.

November 16, 2009 - Nice pinot with a deep nose and a lighter palate. Tannins well integrated but could have used a bit more acidity in my opinion. Some nice spice on the finish.

August 23, 2009 - Consistent w/prior notes...and for those of you, who don't want to find my prior comments (or do the legwork & I get that...)this wine is fantastic, classic Oregon pinot nose of earth and deep cherry. An Indonesian friend had dinner w/us tonight, and nailed the varietal from a blind tasting. Rich, deep and hedonstic w/dark cherry, and rich mocha on the palate. Simply a delicious wine, buy this product!

July 19, 2009 - Popped and poured w/a glass airator. Sometimes, the environment plays a big factor in evaluating a wine. Tongiht, w/teriyaki chicken on the grill, along w/ grilled pineapple, brown rice (ho hum...) and a killer organic salad from Whole Foods....this wine rocked. For an alleged entry level pinot noir, this was stellar. Nose of earth, cherry and a complete integration & mastery of oak...sweet enticing, w/a deep, dash of french vanilla on the finish. Enjoyed w/our son and his fiance, along w/some dear friends, so that explains the environment reference. Wonderful food wine, and the company of great people always influences the review...as it should. That being said, this wine is one of the better Oregon pinot noirs tasted this year (at this price point), and an excellent QPR, worth seeking out.
