July 24, 2022 - Rust red color. Shoe leather, light oak, mulberry, tart cranberry and a medley of herbaceous notes. Chalky tannins glide across the palate in this light weight wine with brûléed flavors intertwined and a slight hint of dried fruits. After reading other comments, we’ll decant and wait a few hours before enjoying to see where that takes the wine.

p.s. reversed seared grilled veal chops with sauerkraut pierogis and charred broccoli

May 8, 2022 - I studied tasting notes from fellow reviewers, and I followed some common advice and decanted this for 3 hours, but it took an hour in the glass to come alive. If it wasn't a Margaux I probably would have been more generous, but it lacked the delicacy and floral characteristics I love in Margaux. I wonder if the 1995 might be similar in 10 years time. That said, it is a magnificent wine, worthy of its first growth status and possibly the wine of the vintage. Light red berry fruits are displayed, but tobacco and spice from the Cabernet are prominent. The nose is mature and worthy of a perfect score. The depth and balance on the palate and finish are impeccable, but residual tannin distracts from the finish. I would assume that there is now bottle variation and on a lucky day this could rate another 2 points. 96+

    April 10, 2022 - Chateau Margaux 1985.
Fullstendig herpa label - ofte et godt tegn.😊
Aldri smakt en bra Chateau Margaux - endelig er tiden inne!
    En helt fantastisk flaske.
Mørke bær, sigarboks, lær, krydder, tørket frukt og litt sjokolade i blomsterenga.
    Silkeføre i anslaget.
