May 21, 2023 - Garnet ruby. This was not tired at all, and opened up nicely over a couple of hours. Dried cherry, limestone, and some forest floor aromas. There is still some sweet pinot fruit in here too. Very tasty, and should drink well for another decade.

April 30, 2022 - Red fruited, sous-bois, sappy, earthy, silky, bright, long.
Entering maturity but honestly, I don't see any rush to drink this.
    Beautiful wine.

May 16, 2021 - A Walk Through Simon Bize 1er Crus: Everyone said this had the most promise down the road. Though it was very enjoyable already. Great lithe texture. The dark fruit seemed smoothed out into a coulee.

After aerating the aroma is thick with underbrush. But this wine probably wasn't at its best yet.

March 12, 2021 - Decanted 4 hours. This opens up a bit and drinks pretty well with a 4 hour decant but reality is it should just mature another year or two in the bottle before trying again. A-

March 2, 2021 - Decanted 2 hours. Medium red, with very nice ripe red fruit on nose and although tangy and a bit reserved at open this was still at cellar temp and so figured warming to room temp would really open this up. At 2 hours this was a bit shut down, to my surprise. It never fully emerged from that although at 3 hours it was better and no doubt this is a very good Burgundy that is more ready than say the '05 and '05 Pavelot recently tasted - as well as more refined and likely to be mistaken for a Nuits wine vs. a Beaune wine. Good now but likley should improve a bit. Maybe not the richness and depth of the best but still very good and a steal for the price. A-

October 28, 2020 - Elegant, perfumed nose with raspberries, morello cherries, rosewater and a touch of spice. On the palate high acidity and a sleek, elegant body. Still nice berry-fruit but lacking a bit of depth in that departement. On the finish drying out a bit with very tannins becoming quite pronounced.

October 23, 2020 - Absolutely top class Savigny les Beaune, as good as I’ve ever had from the north side of the river and qualitatively equal to any Dominode I’ve had too. Darker and richer in style than those though, which makes sense given the clay soils. Opened and poured out a small taste two hours before drinking. Immediately gorgeous on the nose with florals, plums blackberries and also some bright red fruits too. Over a few hours a pungent earthy minerality emerges and sings just as beautifully as the fruit and the flowers. The palate is completely delicious and balanced with vivid acidity and good structure. Not as complex or detailed in the palate as on the nose, but my bet is that comes over the next 5-7 as this continues to unfold. It’s ready to drink now, but feels like it’s at the early part of its best stretch of life.

August 22, 2020 - Drinking beautifully. Resolved, soft, silky deep dark cherries, earth, a little candied spice. Great balance. Delicious.

November 15, 2019 - It was surprisingly accessible with medium body, a deep cherry color and and a mix of black and red fruit at different stages on the palate. Not really earthy and more to the taut-edge side (lean sounds too negative) over lush and rich. I think/hope this will show rounder in the future, but it is conjecture for now.
