May 7, 2023 - Vinetasters: Mt. Veeder (Park Ridge, IL): Served double blind. Clearly shows some age on it, with some cabernet pyrazines as well. Dried dates and leathery notes; leaner on the palate, this almost reminds me a bit of a youngish Rioja. There's a slight browning to this, making me think that this was older than it actually was. A somewhat hollow midpalate. My 4th, group's 1st.

February 24, 2023 - Consistent with previous tastings. Deep color, blackberries, black cherries and licorice in the nose with hints of tobacco and leather. Black currants, blackberries, and chocolate in the flavor. Well balanced, full bodied, nice acidity and complexity and a long finish.

October 22, 2022 - My last bottle. See previous notes..only change in notes would be that there was a little less cherry. After an hour, this turned into an amazing wine. Opened with some amazing heavyweight wines at a 75th birthday event and this was wine of the night on the CA red side. Only regret is that I wish I bought more of it.

    Tasted non blind.

Dark garnet to purple color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of violets, soapstone, a hint of leather, black pepper, plum and cassis. Flavors of raspberries, boysenberries and black cherries. Medium to tart acidity, medium to firm tannin, full bodied. Drink with a little air or hold.

December 3, 2020 - Beautiful wine. Popped and let air for 20 minutes. Excellent integration between alcohol, tanning, fruit and acid. Drinking beautifully now, but still a long life ahead. Excellent wine.

September 26, 2020 - Wines Watching the White Sox Beat the Cubs (Riverwoods, IL): Ripe and powerful black fruit that combines richness with the structural support of mountain fruit to create very good balance and length. Very good now.

March 27, 2020 - Yep, pretty spectacular. Popped and let air for approximately 30 minutes. This one is a huge and in your face Cabernet. Well-made, well balanced, still a bit tanic and in need of more time if you can imagine. Lovely wine. Drink now, but let air for at least one hour or hold for five more years

October 2, 2019 - This continues to drink beautifully, which was a minor concern seeing the trouble of others. After 30 minutes of decanting it was spectacular. Very dark ink color and pleasing nose, with a smooth, full finish. Absolutely outstanding and one bottle left to compare again, maybe in another year.
