December 10, 2020 - Feusselottes theme lunch at Sinai. Tasted blind. Drank in Grassl Cru.
Appearance is clear, pale intensity, garnet colour. Legs.
Nose medium+ intensity, with aromaos of earth, sil, sous bois, red plum. Developed.
On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium alcohol (13%), soft medium tannins, medium body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of soft baking spices, earth, sous bois, light red plums, leather. Long finish.
Very good quality. Showing exactly what I imagine tertiary Chambolle to be. Thus, I conclude I prefer my Chambolle on the slightly younger side of things, maybe with just more fruit and floral aspects, and just a touch of the sous bois. Am I too greedy?
Drink soon for best enjoyment, this wine in this vintage is not a keeper for much longer.

April 19, 2016 - Mugneret-Gibourg Chambolle-Musigny les Feusselottes Dinner (The Bristol - Chicago IL): Served single blind in 93/96/99/01 flight. Pure red fruit on nose and palate, slightly maturing with great clarity and precision. Very elegant, moderate power and concentration. Certainly in its peak drinking window.

January 16, 2016 - Decanted. Fading red-purple in color. Intoxicating nose, with aromas of fresh flowers, rose petals, iron, fennel, black pepper, raspberry and blackberry. On the palate, there are flavors of dark berry, plum, grape jelly, some brine. Very Gibourg in style, especially on the nose. Classy juice, in a great place, singing. Likely will hold for a bit, can't see this improving much, so I'd definitely be drinking up now before it goes tertiary. Single orphan bottle in the cellar, wish I had more but what can you do.

May 24, 2012 - Lunch at Absinthe (Absinthe, Bukit Pasoh): This was a real charmer. I think most of us actually preferred it to the very nice 1996 Clos de la Roche that was served alongside. This had a beautiful Chambolle nose, with sweet cherries and strawberries surrounded by a lovely waft of flowers and some chalky notes. It was only a rather serious streak of minerally, wet-stone scents and a touch of spice that threw a lot of us off. That was perhaps more about the vintage than the terroir - but that got some people guessing towards Nuits St Georges or Vosne Romanee instead. I am not sure we should have been distracted on reflection though. The palate was pure Chambolle. Here soft, melting tannins and lovely fresh acidity framed a perfumy mouthful of truffley mushroomy and damp soil notes floating around a core of dark cherries and beautiful floral notes. It was very feminine, almost ephemereal, but still nicely substanstial all the way into nicely-shaped finish, where some dusty earth and more metally mineral emerged. A delicious, complex wine, quite ready to drink now.

April 17, 2011 - Goodness. Take that any of the ways you can to define that word. That is this wine in a nutshell. From exclamation to description that word does it for this wine. Utterly gorgeous, seamless and captivating. This just brings that indescribable beauty of Chambolle to the table, plops it there for your consideration, raises and eyebrow at you knowingly and leaves you alone for you to enjoy. Silk and fruit intertwined. It smells young and refined at the same instant. It tastes of the purest fruit you can imagine yet has a whole other gear to it. This wine could easily last another 30 years with nothing but brilliance in its otherwordly balancedness. I know that’s not a word but that is what this wine is. Simply amazing stuff. This will be hard to knock out of the Top 10 for the year and there’s a long way and a lot of good wine to go.

March 13, 2011 - Opened one early to taste, at first rather primary and acidic, but over two houre really opened up, lovely nose of bright red fruits, on the palate classic Chambolle taste, long finish of currants and red berries, beautiful balance, very lush and elegant, completely ready to drink. Would not wait much longer for this one, and would open but not decant, 1-2 hours ahead.

September 16, 2010 - Premier Cru Red Burgundy (Willamette Wine Storage, Portland OR): Campfire ash and dark cherries show on the nose. Some faint mint scents appear as well. Great acidity touches down early on, and the cherry flavors appear out of a lovely evolution of fruit on the mid palate. The ash flavors appear faintly in the background toward the finish, and as things run out, the acidity dries the palate nicely.

September 16, 2010 - 1997 and previous Premier Cru Red Burgundy (Willamette Wine Storage): Soft aromas of earth, and elegant in aromas, including car leather polish. Nice mild, tart, elegant, soft texture on the palate, but not too complex, showing some pleasing red fruits with strawberry building the longer it holds on the tongue. Nice and fresh on the palate. Really nice finish, some big tannins build, and is all that's left on the tongue. Quite primary on the finish.
