February 18, 2018 - Very dark red. A bit of barnyard on the nose. Ripe dark fruits, some earthiness and pepper, and drinking well. will hold

July 27, 2017 - Crimson in color. 14.5% ABV. Brooding nose of dried red fruits, charred meats, smoke and blood. Medium body with medium to strong acidity. Concentrated and powerful. Cherries, kirsch, garrigue and licorice on the palate. The finish is long and savory with a substantial tannin presence. This wine flies in the face of those who think Clos Saint Jean can only produce flamboyant, fruit forward CdP. This wine is either a throwback to years past or perhaps a reflection of the more classic 2006 vintage. Super CdP. Drink over the next 2-3 years.

June 29, 2017 - Rich, dark and velvety. This wine is showing well. Chocolate covered cherries, bacon bits and lovely minerals

April 7, 2017 - We brought this bottle up from the cellar and pulled the cork about two hours before dinner simply to let it catch its breath and come up to temperature. In the glass, a very deep crimson robe. Notes of cherry pie, burned toast, a touch of wild game...a bit hot though too and I found that to be a bit distracting. On the palate, dark cherries and plums...just a hint of spice but pretty simple really. Very soft mouthfeel. Tannins have integrated and acid is low-ish so I can't imagine any reason to hold out in hopes of more. Set your expectations, if you have any, to "moderate" and drink now.

December 2, 2016 - Very dark red. A bit of barnyard on the nose. Ripe dark fruits, some earthiness and pepper, and quite rustic and tannic. Very good, but I think this wine needs some more time to reach its potential.
